Student Highlights
"Our research included a study of the international businesses that set up their manufacturing services in the Philippines. This is a trend of many businesses because in the Philippines there is access to cheap and efficient labor, an access to shipping routes and cost-efficiency for the businesses. Our research was inspired by the desire to understand more fully global business and the benefits of outsourcing businesses. There are also many students at BYUH from the Philippines, so it was a great opportunity to further understand a country where so many of our classmates live.
From the conference, we were able to meet and connect with other students and professionals from different parts of the world, including Israel, Vietnam, Pakistan and other countries. We learned from various presentations with the topics of AI technology, and it’s influence on today’s society, self-driving cars and agriculture and food services in Pakistan. We learned about culture and how different we humans are but that through it all, we are all interconnected as well.
This project has helped me as I study Supply Chain management and as I near my graduation this winter. I have been able to deepen my understanding of the world around me and been able to connect with professionals from around the world. Much of my research has helped me to understand more deeply the topics that I am covering in my classes and how I can make a difference in the world."
