Asian Perspectives on Human Dignity Conference

About the Conference

The Religious Freedom and Human Dignity (RFHD) Initiative will host the Asian Perspective on Human Dignity Conference at BYU–Hawaii on April 16 to April 18, 2023 alongside the International Center for Law and Religion Studies (ICLRS).

The goal of this conference is to provide an opportunity for a small group of scholars to expand our understanding of how human dignity is addressed from a variety of Asian perspectives. We are inviting scholars from various Asian countries to present papers at the conference to help us understand how human dignity is understood from their cultural and societal perspectives.

This conference honors the 75th anniversary of the adoption by the United Nations of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and seeks to broaden and magnify global perspectives on what human dignity means, especially the human right of freedom of religion and belief for all people in all places. The conference is hosted by BYU–Hawaii’s RFHD and the International Center for Law and Religion (ICLRS) at BYU law school.

The public is welcome to attend any session.
